Afghani delegation visits Lavasan Healthcare Center and Afjeh Health House

Prof. Najieh Tarogh, Health Deputy of Afghanistan Ministry of Health, on her travel to Iran to meet with health officials and visit healthcare centers of Iran, made a visit to Lavasan Healthcare Center and Afjeh Health House on Tuesday, April 29, 2014. Dr. Farsar, SBMU Vice-Chancellor in Health Affairs, having welcomed guests, pointed out to the long-standing cultural ties between Iran and Afghanistan.

Then, Dr. Hassanpour, in charge of Network Expansion, illustrated details on health network system , and Dr. Kalantari, Director of Shemiranat Healthcare Center, explained about development of this system and household filing  in towns and villages during the last 34 years. He also stated that the main mission of health houses is to prevent diseases and provide initial treatment services as the most important part of the health sector.

Afterwards, Prof. Tarogh mentioned that healthcare services in Iran have been well-organized, which is indicative of effective management in this regard. This type of health system brings people closer to health officials to guarantee their health.  She also gave details on the health system in Afghanistan, and that they need help in some health sectors including environmental health, addiction control, cancer, food and drugs.

Moreover, the Behvarz (the healthcare assistant), the midwife and the physician of this health house provided some details on filing patients’ records, their demographic information, genetic diseases, prescribed drugs and the Family Doctor Plan.

Also, the Afghani delegation visited different units of Lavasan Healthcare Center including dental care unit, environmental health, family health and drug unit and health education in order to become more familiar with educational programs provided in this center.

In the end, Dr. Farsar, gave the Afghani delegation some souvenirs as well as the official letter from the university chancellor to draw their attention to readiness of SBMU to train medical students and nurses and hold specialty and subspecialty programs for Afghani specialists. Finally, they thanked the university officials for their hospitality.
